How important is Bicycle
Safety program in your community?
In Lake County California Perfection on Wheels BMX Stunt Teams "bicycle safety program" was brought in to present there version of a bicycle safety school assembly program. The goal was to try to convince a group of students that wearing helmets, and obeying traffic rules is the cool thing to do. The bicycle safety program was a hit! The schools involved distributed a few free helmets to the students during the show, everyone was pleased.
Just a few weeks later Perfection on Wheels Received this letter.

Perfection on Wheels and Staff:
I
just wanted to take a moment to thank you again for
your terrific safety program here in Lake County. I also wanted
to let you know that you directly contributed to saving
a boy’s life. During the show you did at Pomo School,
we gave away four bike helmets. One of the helmet recipients
was a fifth grader who had never worn a helmet. Because
of the show and the “cool” helmet, he started wearing
it every time he rode his bike. About two weeks after
the show. He was involved in a car vs. bike accident.
He sustained facial fractures, but because he was wearing
his helmet, his head injuries were minor. The doctors
as U.C Davis told him that the helmet probably saved
his life.
Thank you so much for a job well done! You’re bicycle safety program made a
big difference in the boy’s life.

Bicycle safety and helmet use is something to be serious about. During our bicycle safety assemblies we cover:

How to wear a safety helmet properly. Living the students with memorable tips on how to check it the bicycle helmet is seated properly.

Rules of the road. In our program we try to explain the rules of the road in words the students can relate too.

Always
stop at the end of the driveway. Many crashes between a car and bike happen when kids don't stop at
the end of their driveway to look for cars and simply shoot into traffic,
or they get hit while crossing a driveway on the sidewalk and are
struck by a car pulling out of the driveway.

Bicycle size is important - In our bicycle safety assemblies, we
explain that riding
the wrong size bike is like trying to play basketball in Shaquille
O'Neal's size 22 shoes-when you've got size 9 feet. You can do it,
but it will be awkward and not a lot of fun.

Kids really do look up to a super heroes' IEHP's Rad Rider was present signing auto graphs. with us in Riverside CA. Kids were lined for us to sign autographs for hours.
IEHP created a comic book using Rad to fight against unsafe cycling in Motor city.

For 10 years Perfection on Wheels has been working closely with IEHP and The Rad Rider safety program. The safety program was developed to educate inner city children on bicycle safety, and provide each participant with a free helmet. through this program we have delivered over 120,000 bicycle safety helmets to inner city kids.

Our riders are all about promoting bicycle safety and helmet use
Signing a helmet for a kid could very well save there life. It's a good feeling to be able to know your doing something positive. I just want to know that they have left our show knowing smothering about bicycle safety. Each little bit of information they take in will add up, and save an injury or even a life.
